Chapter 27 Questions

Chapter 27
1. What goes on during the final interview?The guy Caesar Flickerman asked them questions again and they showed them on tv how the other tributes died.
2. What happened to Peeta's leg? They had to replace it with a mechanical parts because it was beyond repair.
3. Why does Katniss feel torn in the end?She doesn't know what's she is going to do with the love thing with Peeta when she met up with Gale,her mother, and Prim which later she found out was making Gale furious..
4. What does Peeta realize? She was just acting with the love thing just to be more popular with the viewers which he didn't know before so it broke his heart.

1. How does the Capitol heal Katniss? They clean her all up, treat all her scares. And they even treat the ones from over her years. They fix there hearing from her left ear. Her nails are made polished in perfect oval and her hair is silken..
2. What does Haymitch reveal to Katniss before she sees the crowd? He told her that the capital is mad her for what she did in the games for the double suicide thoughts and it caused the capital embarrassment.

Chapter 25 Questions

  Chapter 25

1. What attacks the last three tributes? Some capital mutations of wolves made from the tributes' bodies attacked the last three tributes. They way Katniss could tell this was by their eyes, Because Their eyes were the same of the dead tributes. 
2. How does Katniss use her last arrow? She shot it at Cato's skull, when he was lying injured on the floor inside the Cornucopia, to end his misery because the mutts were slowly eating him up.
3. What happens when the Gamemakers revoke the rule change? They wanted only one winner to win and Katniss or Peeta refuse to kill themselves or the other. So they both choose to kill themselves by eating the poisonous berries that also killed Foxface.   
4. Who wins the Hunger Games? Katniss and Peeta both win because they were both going to kill themselves so the gamemakers got scared and let them both win. But unfortunately for them this might arouse problems with the capitol.

Chapter 24 Questions

  Chapter 24

1. How do the Gamemakers try to drive the last tributes together? They dried up all the lakes except the one that was near the cornucopia so they would all be forced to go to the Cornucopia.  But before that they took all of the lakes fishes and creatures away so when Peeta and Katniss where walking back to their camp Katniss didn't kill any fish.
2. How does Katniss feel about Cato? She thought that he was more slippery than Foxface and powerful and well trained but she wasn't really sure if he was smart. That he could easily easily lose his judgement if he was angry.
3. How do the final three meet up? When Katniss and Peeta were waiting at the lake for Cato  he came out  running out of a bush being chased by something.Which later turned out to be mutts.(Mutations)

Chapter 23 Questions

 Chapter 23

1. Why does Thresh's death affect Katniss? Thresh death affected Katniss because Thresh spared her life and she would've been his friend if they would've have both lived in district 12. 
2. Who is left in the arena?It is only Katniss, Peeta, Cato, and Foxface but she dies later in the chapter when she accidentally eats a couple of poisonous berries.
3. What Katniss' fears if she wins the Games?She fears she won't have nothing todo because she won't need to hunt and that all she has ever done her hole life.
4. What happens to Foxface? She got poisoned by some berries she stole from Peeta, who when he was gathering them didn't know they were poisonous.

  Chapter 22

1. How does Katniss compare Peeta to Gale? She said Peeta's  life was always easy. He is the son of a baker so was always well fed so he never had to worry about food. Unlike Gale who he has to hunt for food with her to feed he's whole family.
2. What happens with the weather? It went from  the weather being warm and sunny to heavy rain with thunder so loud it almost shakes the earth.
3. How does Katniss get the feast? She acts romantic with Peeta and then Haymitch sends them some supplies because her being romantic brings up viewers who now want to sponsor them to help them survive. But she let Peeta do most of the talking because she wasn't ever really a good talker so she asked Peeta when he started liking her. Which worked.

Chapter 21 Questions

Chapter 21 1. Who's the first to get their pack?The girl Katniss nicknamed Foxface. She got it first because she sprinted for it at the beginning. Which was smart because nobody could run after her because everybody else still needed their bags.
2. Who catches Katniss? The girl named Clove knocked her on her head and killed her.
3. Why does Thresh let Katniss go? He let's her go because she helped out Rue for her last hours. So he did it so he wouldn't have to owe Katniss any other favors.
4. Why does Katniss think Cato will go after Thresh and not her?It's because Thresh has his pack Cato really needs. But as a precaution she doesn't stop running until she's at the cave.

   Chapter 20

1. What is Peeta's condition? He has a high fever and he can barely stand up because of the cut on his leg. His leg is still  swelling. His stings are going down though. So he still need someone to care for him or some medicine to take care of himself. Because he got blood poisoning.
2. How do the Gamemakers try to entice the tributes? What does Katniss think they have for her? They have a gathering for them at the cornucopia. They have a backpack with supplies they really need. She thinks it's just a trap to make a battle. Just for some action for the capital. But she thinks they have the medicine Katniss needs for Peeta.
3. What does Haymitch send Katniss? Why? Haymitch sends her some medical syrup. It's for making people knock out. He sent it for her so Katniss can go get the supplies. Since Peeta refused to let Katniss go by her self. Then Katniss had to trick him to drink it so then Katniss can go while Peeta's blacked out.

Chapter 19

1. How does Katniss find Peeta? She found him camouflaged in mud and plants next to a creek, which Peeta used to drink and cover his tracks.
2. What is Peeta's true talent?Peeta's true talent is camouflaging. Which he did to hide from the careers.
3. How does Katniss treat Peeta's wound? To treat Peeta's wound Katniss washed the mud and plants off the cut. Then she stitched and bandaged up the wound. Afterwards she treated the tracker jacker's sting with the leaves she used for her stings.
4. Where do they hide out?They hid in a small cave that was near the stream they were at before.
5. How and why do they get the pot of broth?They get the pot from Haymitch because Peeta and Katniss are supposed to be in love so when they kissed they got something. But Katniss knew Haymitch wanted something better to work with.

Chapter 18 Questions

Chapter 18
1. What does Katniss do for Rue?
       Katniss sings a song for her that she used to sing for Prim and then Rue died. She also decorated Prim's body in flowers which they'll have to show on television because when they come to pick up the bodies they show a close up. 
2. Who sponsors a gift for her? What is it?
        They sent Katniss a loaf of bread that has seeds on the top which came from district 11, where Rue is from. The sponsors were from district 11. Which meant a lot to Katniss.
3. How does Katniss' attitude change after Rue's death? 
        She loses the will to to do the simplest tasks so she has to command herself to do stuff like eat or drink. As "if there was liquid lead in her veins"(page 248).
4. What rule change do the Gamemakers announce? 
       The rule they changed was that if both tributes from a district are the last ones alive they both win. Which is excellent news for Katniss enough that she yells out Peeta's name jeopardizing her life.

1. What happens to Katniss in the explosion? 
      Her right ear gets damaged during the explosion. So she can't here through that one which somehow in a way unbalances her.Because as a hunter she needs her ears as, much as her eyes.
2. Why does Katniss leave the rendezvous point? 
      She leaves some mint leaves around the campfire so Rue can know that she passed by.
3. What happens to Rue? 
        Rue stars to scream for Katniss. When Katniss finds her she is trapped in a net hanging. And when she's running towards Rue the boy from district one throws at and kills Rue with a spear.

    Chapter 16

1. What is Katniss' offensive attack?
     She said she was going to destroy the careers supplies. Which would be an offensive attack because she attacking them instead of waiting for them to attack her.
2. In what ways are the Careers at a disadvantage?
     The careers were always well fed. So they don't know how to feed themselves. If they have no food supply they can starve.Which is why Katniss is going to try to destroy their food supplies.
3. What important information does Rue provide? 
       She tells Katniss that there are supplies near the lake the careers are at. There stacked up in a pyramid surrounded by crates. When the careers leave they leave the boy from district 3 in guard with a spear. BU t he isn't near it much for a reason. hen that there is a good hiding spot near the lake where the careers can't see you.
4. What is Rue's favorite thing? How does this connect to Katniss?
    Her favorite thing is music. Rue likes to sing with the mocking birds in her farm. It connects with Katniss because sang with the same birds with her dad. Then they both know they can mimic notes you sing.
5. Why can't Katniss get to the bounty of supplies? How is she able to destroy it? 
      She can't get Some supplies because they placed mines around it. They were put there by the boy that was guarding it. She destroyed the supplies because she shot some arrows at a sack of apples hanging on the basket. Then when it fell it blew up a mine that triggered the others.

  Chapter 15
1. Who forms an alliance with Katniss? 
      She teamed up with Rue the twelve year old girl from district ll. Who before helped her escape the careers when she was trapped on a tree.

2. How does this alliance benefit both parties?
    Katniss knew how to hunt animals with her bows' and could set up snares. And  Rue knew of some medical plants and some good hiding places. Also she knew how to send messages through mocking birds
3. What are some differences between District 11 and District 12?
       In district eleven the death penalty is more serious. Like the kid who took some night vision glasses. Or when a person steals food from the farms. In district twelve when Katniss hunts she gives the peacekeepers meat and it is okay because the peacekeepers are lenient.But since district 11 is a farming district and everyone's hungry they have to be more strict.

  Chapter 14
1. Who helps Katniss escape from the Careers? How?
       A girl named Rue helps her. She doesn't say much at first when she comes. But then Rue told Katniss of the tracker jackers on the branch. Which Katniss later drops on top of the careers. But also getting stung herself.
2. What does Haymitch send Katniss?
       Haymitch gives her a medical ointment  for the burns she got from the fire. Which helps her when she's cutting the branch with the tracker jacker's nest on it.
3. What does Katniss get from Glimmer's body? Why is this so important to her? 
     Katniss gets the bow and arrows that Glimmer had gotten. There important to her because it is an advantage she has.She can take out careers with it from a far. And she can hunt with it now. So now she has an actual chance at winning unlike before where she only had a knife.
4. What does Peeta do when he finds her?
       He tells her to run because the other careers where coming behind him.Which is weird because he was suppose to be helping the careers. So maybe he isn't that evil like Katniss thought at first when she saw him with them. 
5. What are the effects of the tracker jackers stings on Katniss?
     The stings injected a venom into her. The venom affected her in the brain making her have illusions of her worst fears like Prim dieing which she saw countless times while she was poisoned. It also made her feel weak and  wobbly. Then after a while the stings will swell up.

Chapter 13 Questions

Chapter 13
1. What new threat does Katniss face?
    Katniss faced a huge forest fire. She tried to escape it but didn't know where to go. So she tried to follow  a pack of wild dogs. But she couldn't keep up with them.
 2. How do the Game makers control the events of the Games?
    The game makers control the events in the games by placing traps and tricks like poisonous. If the games get  to boring they try to trick the tributes to come face to face by using things like fires. 
3. What slows Katniss down? 
   A burn from a fire ball that came from launchers hidden in the rocks and trees.. It burned her hands and calf. The smoke also made it worse because it made her fell like her lungs were on fire.
 4. Who finds her? 
     Peeta and the group of career tributes find her but she was on a tree so they couldn't reach her. One of them tried to climb the tree but ended up falling instead. And  another one tried to shoot Katniss with a bow and arrow but her aim was off.

Chapter 12
 1. What is Katniss struggling to find?
     Katniss is struggling to find water.She is so thirsty that when she peed the urine was dark brown. Which is definitely not healthy.
2. In what ways is Katniss “playing the game”? 
       By playing the game she means she's surviving. She is surviving by camouflaging and eating bunnies. She's also playing the game by playing with the cameras. She's playing with the cameras by giving them looks as if she's thought up a plan.
3. Why doesn’t Haymitch send Katniss water? 
    Haymitch isn't sending her water because  he knows that she is close to water. But Katniss thinks its because he either despises her or he's drunk. But little by little  she knows that he's in fact trying to help her but can't always be giving her stuff since its not cheap.

Chapter 11
 1. What is the Cornucopia?
    The Cornucopia is a big basket. This Cornucopia has supplies of what the tributes need. But to get the supplies they need to fight for them. And unfortunately the most useful things are the ones farthest away.And the least useful are the closest. The Cornucopia is 20 feet high. 
 2. How does Katniss make it into the woods? What weapons does she choose? Why?
    Katniss  makes it into the woods with blood splattered on her face. Because when she was picking up a small bag, a boy started fighting her for it but then a career threw a knife at his back and he spit out blood which unfortunately landed on Katniss's face.And when she's running the career throws a knife at her head but Katniss blocks it with her bag.she chose the bag because she didn't want to leave with nothing.
  3. Why is Katniss angry at the tribute who starts the fire? Who is hunting in the pack?
    She was mad because the fire could attract  the other tributes making her an easy target.Which later attracts a career pack which is a pack of tributes who their whole lives have been trained to fight.But for some reason Peeta was in it.

Hunger Games Game Results

I got 89% on the Hunger Games Game, which was a fun game and not lame. What I would've done differently would've  been doing more running away than risking my life.

Chapter 10 Questions

Chapter 10
1.Why does Peeta reveal his love for Katniss? Do you think he really loves her? Why or why not?
He admitted it so he could become more popular with the people watching and to get more sponsors for him and Katniss. . But I don't think he is telling the truth and  Haymitch told him to say something like that.Which will probably get her more mad at Haymitch.
2. What is Peeta’s main concern during the hunger games? 
He doesn't want to die. But if he does he wants to die with his dignity and like himself not like a monster that will do anything to stay alive.
3. How does the Capitol view the previous arenas of the hunger games? How many games have there been? They view them as historic sites. They have them for people on vacation to see them. They let you see the spots were tributes died. They even let reenact the battles. There has been 74 Hunger Games.
4.What do you feel is the purpose of the hunger games?
I think it is a source of entertainment for the capital people. It is also to show the districts there in power. To show they could do nothing to stop them. To show supreme power over all the districts.
